Prenatal & Postnatal Care

We try to give our does a shot of BoSe and CDT 30 days before kidding to cover her and her kids. Since we milk our does, we also worm doe prior to breeding and or kidding (make sure it’s okay for pregnant does and check about milk discard time. Also do a fecal first so you know which parasites to treat for, if any.) Free choice minerals are a must! We get ours from our veterinary clinic and they are specifically designed for goats in our area. We give our does a prenatal grooming that includes shaving her udder and rear end for two reasons. One, it makes monitoring signs of impending labor a little easier for us to see and two, it keeps everything cleaner and is much easier to clean up when it is time to milk.
